About Us

LM Capital Group, LLC is a San Diego-based investment advisory firm registered under the Investment Advisory Act of 1940. The firm was founded in 1989 by Luis Maizel and John Chalker to provide fixed income investment management services to the institutional investor. The firm is a 65% employee owned minority business, employed by public agencies, corporations and foundations nationwide. Currently LM Capital Group manages four types of fixed income investment strategies, Opportunistic Core (Core Plus), Core, Intermediate and Short term, which may be customized to adhere to client investment guidelines.

Employee ownership is affected through LM Capital Management, a holding company, with Luis Maizel, John Chalker, Mario Modiano, Tobias Gorodzinsky, Richard Deary and Rachel Wilson owning 100% of LM Capital Management, which is certified as a minority owned firm. Strategic Investment Group Ventures, LLC (SIGV), a joint venture between the State of California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and Strategic Investment Partners, owns the remaining 35% interest as a passive equity investor.
